Getting Started

This is a sensitive topic, can I trust adeus?

adeus was founded by Nick and Mark, two professionals who spent decades building their reputations at leading organisations around the world. adeus regularly participates in invitation only programmes supported by LawtechUK (supported by the UK Ministry of Justice) and in 2025 was awarded a prestigious Smart Grant through Innovate UK to develop innovations in electronic wills.

Innovate UK is part of UKRI, sponsored by the UK Department of Science, Innovation and Technology, supporting innovative businesses to develop and commercialise new ideas.

These are endorsements we're proud to have earned, and show our commitment to building a business you can trust.

Why should I use adeus?

We make legacy planning simple, secure and stress-free - with clear guidance, bank-grade security and unlimited will updates.

What does “adeus” mean?

“adeus” is Portuguese for “to say goodbye,” reflecting our mission to protect your legacy and ease the farewell process.

I love it, how do I begin?

Simply click the Get Started button in the top right corner.

Who can access my encrypted data and under what conditions?

Only you and any contacts you explicitly grant access and only after you have passed away. No one else can view your files and information, not even us.

Is adeus only about Wills?

Your Will is the foundation of your legacy plan, but we think there's more to protecting your legacy than a piece of paper. That's why our legacy planning tools including the adeus Digital Vault, True Wills, True Gifts and True Notes are included to transform your Will into a legacy plan. Protecting your legacy and giving you and your loved ones complete peace of mind.

Common queries about adeus offerings, answered.

Digital Wills

What is adeus True Wills?

adeus True Wills ensure your wishes are preserved exactly as you set them out, giving you peace of mind today and protecting your loved ones in the future. An adeus True Will is a secure, encrypted digital copy of your will, stored permanently using advanced technology. Unlike paper, it cannot be lost, altered, or destroyed.

Why is it important to have a Will?

A Will ensures your wishes are followed, minimises family disputes and can reduce Inheritance Tax for your beneficiaries. Without a will, your estate will be settled according to outdated rules which may not reflect your wishes.

Don't I need a solicitor to write my Will?

No. adeus is designed for the majority of people with straightforward family and financial situations, and our guided process ensures an adeus will is right for you. If your circumstances are more complex and you need expert advice, we can refer you to one of our trusted solicitors or certified will writers. You can then store your will in adeus and use our legacy planning tools and digital vault.

How long does it take to create an adeus Will?

Most customers complete their Will in under 10 minutes. You can even complete it on your mobile phone; more than 50% of our customers do.

Can I update my Will?

Absolutely. You can make unlimited updates at any time within the first 12 months at no extra cost. Subsequent updates are available to all paid adeus subscribers.

Are adeus Wills legally valid?

Yes, adeus Wills are fully compliant with current wills legislation in England and Wales; the Wills Act 1837 and all subsequent legislation.

Your adeus will is also future proofed to comply with new electronic wills legislation when it is passed. This is expected in 2026.

Digital Vault

Why should I use the adeus Digital Vault?

It’s your secure, central hub for all important documents, accounts and instructions - accessible whenever your loved ones need them.

What can I store in my vault?

Wills, LPAs, insurance policies, bank statements, property deeds, photos, messages and more. We've created categories for the key areas like banking & investments, pensions, insurance, and even social media, but you're free to store whatever information and files are important to you, and you want easy to find for your loved ones or trusted friends.

How do I grant access to trusted contacts?

Select ‘Key Contacts’ and add their name and contact details. We'll provide them with secure, private, read-only access when the time comes and not before.

How often does adeus back up my encrypted vault?

We perform automatic, encrypted backups daily to ensure your data is always secure and recoverable.

What happens to my vault when I pass away?

We will obtain a verified copy of your Death Certificate and verify the identity of your Key Contacts before providing them access to your secure adeus Executor Toolkit. This includes your will and access to all information and documents stored in your adeus Digital Vault.

Can I export my data?

Yes. We securely store your data on your behalf, and you can download any files or your entire vault at any time. Simply contact us at hello@adeus.life and we will provide you with instructions, and enable secure access to download all your documents and information in a secure ZIP file.

Lasting Power of Attorney (Coming soon)

What is a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)?

A legal document letting you appoint someone to make decisions on your behalf if you become unable.

When should I set up an LPA?

You should set up a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) to ensure that people you choose and trust can legally manage your affairs if you lose the capacity to do so yourself due to illness, injury, or an accident.

Who should I appoint as my attorney?

Choose someone you trust - usually a close family member or friend - who understands your wishes and responsibilities.

How is an LPA stored and accessed?

You can store your LPAs in your adeus Digital Vault and grant access under the same conditions as your will.

When will adeus LPAs be available?

We're planning to release LPAs in the UK aligned with significant changes the government has planned for the LPA process, likely in late 2026 or 2027.

What if I want to set up an LPA now?

We partner with specialist legal firms that can help you draft and register your LPA now, and store in your adeus Digital Vault. Just drop us an email at hello@adeus.life and we can provide more details and connect you with the best partner for your needs.

Security & Privacy

Can I trust adeus with my information?

Yes. Trust and security are the foundations of adeus. We use GDPR-compliant, ISO-aligned cloud infrastructure and bank-grade encryption to protect your data.

How is my data encrypted?

All files are encrypted with AES-256 in transit and at rest. No one can read them, not even us.

What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

An extra security layer requiring a time-sensitive code plus your password every time you log in. It's a proven technology and reduces the potential for hacking by 99.9% versus a password alone.

Do you store my passwords?

No. We never store your vault passwords; we recommend using a dedicated password manager on your personal device. You can store information about your password manager in your secure adeus Digital Vault, so your executor and named key contacts know how to find and access.

How can I control or delete my data?

Go to Account > Privacy to review, export or permanently delete any personal information or documents.

How can I access my data if I want to cancel?

You can delete data at any time within adeus, and if you would like to export or permanently delete any information or documents, simply contact us at hello@adeus.life so we can provide you with a download of all of your data before deletion.
